Plant Videos.

We are on a mission to bring the beauty and benefits of plants to everyone.  Years in the making, we’ve been creating one of the most comprehensive plant video collection in the world on our YouTube channel!  The plants that you see here are what we ship to our local garden center partners – no staged plants here!  So whether you are looking for plant inspiration, care tips, or an escape to nature you are in the right spot 🙂 The feed below features recent YouTube uploads – hundreds more can be found on our channel.

Have specific questions?  We welcome you to post those questions as comments to videos.  David and our team do our best to reply to everyone.  Keep growing!

Today’s video begins with a wonderful viewer comment from @JulieFurman1978, who wrote, “What a spectacularly beautiful tree.” She’s talking about the Weeping Alaskan Cedar — and she’s absolutely right.

If you missed last week’s video introducing this elegant, shapely, low‑maintenance evergreen, I encourage you to check it out. In this follow‑up, filmed in early January in my own garden, I highlight why evergreens like this are so valuable in a winter landscape and why they continue to earn their keep all year long.

If you already grow this dependable, time‑tested, and easy‑to‑love tree, we would love to hear your experiences in the comments.

There’s also a lot more to this tree than meets the eye. In this video, I share some fascinating stories about its discovery and introduction — beginning with the remarkable Scottish plant hunter Archibald Menzies, who first encountered the species in Nootka Sound, a name preserved today in its species name: nootkatensis.

Menzies and intrepid fellow Scots such as John Fraser, David Douglas, Robert Fortune, George Forrest, and George Don endured harsh conditions, disease, leeches, pirates, and perilous travel to bring back many of the plants we treasure in our gardens today. Their courage, fortitude, and curiosity helped shape horticulture as we know it.

Join me as we explore the beauty, history, and enduring value of this extraordinary evergreen.
